The Weather

Chemo via the pump/ day 3

All night his chemo pump released drugs into his bloodstream. Each 1:09 seconds a tic as the 'cuckoo clock door' swung open and clicked shut. He has to sleep on his right side to keep the line open from his chest to the pump laying on the bedside table and he slept well!
His stamina is off but he has been busy packing and making sure Pilgrims papers are in order.
At Two he rountinely delived the vacuum to Starks for it's annual service call. At three the pump was disconnected and he arrived home very weary, He's free to fly!
I made more Care Team calls, sent the minutes to church council and gave away the groceries on hand.
Pam our neighbor came by to learn the house plant watering technique,
The poinsettias are out along with the garbage.
My eyes are tired therefore I am exhausted, but I feel Blessed by all the details which come together to make our getaway a Go!
More tomorrow! I am Grateful for Grace to see us off.

Chemo via the pump/day 2

It's Friday;)
Dan didn't sleep too well. The steroids in the chemo cocktail had him restless. So today he's been tired. We are grateful there is no nausea! And his appetite is Wonderful!
Today he picked up a sleep medication Loprazepam and a small bag of donuts because they just sounded good.

Pilgrim was in need of more meds for the leg wound. Doxycycline and Cipro a huge  of special kibble to support his kidneys. Tomorrow I will mix the two dry foods and bag 36 cups for our time on Kauai.

For once, I'm low maintenance;) I did try on the new swimsuit from Nordstrom today after my green smoothie for breakfast, and walked the two miles required by my Coach.

Dan seems to be generally fatigued and we don't know what our vacation will look like.
We are already grateful to Ed and Marilyn because we will arrive the same day in Lihue and they will happily do our grocery shopping if Dan feels poorly.
We lucked out buying first class seats for $130.00 and some air miles. Dan can be near a bathroom and will get special care from the flights attendents as needed.
So thats what today looks like.
I set up this blog site so we can keep friends and family updated on The Journey. This a picture of me blogging in Maui some years ago.

Thursday January 28, 2016

This from Dan as he begins his first chemotherapy session  to shrink tumor of stage 2 pancreatic cancer. We are thrilled that Dr. Krocenzi agreed to honor our annual Winter retreat to Kauai! Dan has posted this on Facebook:

"To !hose of you who believe in prayer, or sending healing thoughts, please keep me in yours tomorrow as I begin a two- or three-month regimen of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor that's growing on my pancreas. After the chemo, I'll have a month to recover before I have surgery to remove the tumor.

I'm optimistic that the cancer was caught relatively early and that it is in a good spot on the pancreas to be removed. I'm really grateful for the early retirement package (here's to you, Dennis Peck and Mark Katches).  Retirement seriously rocks. I'm thankful for the good care at Providence, and that somehow I've been hooked up with the best pancreatic surgeon in the Northwest. And for all the friends who have helped out with rides to and from the various procedures I've had over the last couple of months.

And of course for Susan, the best wife God ever made.

No need to reply. But, again, prayers and healing thoughts are most appreciated.

Now, let's start getting rid of this cancer!

Thanks,
Dan"
