The wrap is dry. And takes 45 minutes.
And wonderous with siracha sauce.
The beach is heavenly and Pilgrim goes directly into the water to swim. While Dsn dozes. I book isn't downloaded so i am restless. Lol

Home to shower and feed mr P and relieve him.  Feeling rushed but its a temporary illusion.

The shave ice costs $6.00 snd is nacadamia nut ice cream with coconut shave ice, juicy and dan pilgrim and i share it with two spoons.

The concert is fantastic.dome new pieces. La.Paloma. Doug says by next yesr they may have a home of their own. And we csn stay with them!

A Dr. Who sat near the door told me sbout Pilgrim from her intuition. We have known each other before! He chose me.
And I chose him.

At home Dan makes bacon and we put together a delicious potato salmon cheese and cilantro dish with toast.

The Deerhunter is on TCM and why not simply zone out.

Its been a wonderful two weeks. We have lived as Kama aina close to the land and full of Gratitude.

Thursday 2/11/2016

I love love love awakening at 6:30, and I did, well rested. Mymeditations hsve been flighty. Up to an hour, sometimes compositional, sometimes intuitive. Tday I started with alternate nostril breathing.

I woke Dan with a cuddle and a fresh pot of coffee. It had rained over night. We ate taro pancakes and a fried egg.
Then Dan took Pilgrim out.

We showered and dressed to hot tub. Theairwascool and the tub just right. It was an invigorating stsrt to our twentieth anniversary of when Dan 'set his cap' for me at the red party.

We planned to hike at Lumahai Gardens and we did. We took our time, very pleasant! And we took a selfie:

I found this endearing:

And there were some lovely glowers:

After our hike, we witnessed a fall at the gardens office. Emergency vehicles were on the way.

We ate fish burritos at Pat's Tacqueria.
And ate them at home. Dan bought me a yummy kombucha. . . Mango peach pomelo.

Sfter lunch we headed to Anini Beach. We found a deep beach with sun and shade. I found this with minutes to go!

Once home i called Dad. He and Margaret didn't have a good day. He was ready for bed. Dan ordered Boys in the Boat  for Ken on Amazon.

We watched the debate. Clinton vs Sanders.

Whsles and Wine is a new event going on at the Cliffs. We talked with Psm and left quickly before s rain shower. Dan snapped this amazing photo:

We  dressed for dinner. We had a reservations for dinner at 7:00 at BarAcuda . Some mysterious calamity struck and they had to close immediately.
Plan B was a burger at the 76 station. They were closing. Home we went for a toasted cheese and salad.

We caught the end of Top Hat.

Wednesday 2/10/16

Today I awoke at 6:30! Thats 10 hours after i went to sleep, And it was dark out when we took our seat outdoor.

An hour later We woke Dan up. Pilgrim heard him first. The coffee was weak, i forgot to put the lid down.

We ate granola and remarked about the thunderous surf. Waves up to 50 ' are expected.

We go to the point so Dan can receive his healing scouring.

Then we drive to the Church of the Pacific to volunteer at the Food Pantry. We work with Darlene making 50 boxes forthe home  bound. We packed a can of fruit and a vegetable, rice, crackers chips and cookies, 3 potatoes and an onion. 2 apples and either bread or tortillas. The meat milk cheese and yogurt were added later. Then we went home. At 4 people who can arrive and make choices file through another row of tables. We left our phone number but they must not have needed us.

A swing by the office netted us a bag of decaf coffee and a Cliffs cap. My twenty dollars gift for naming the Lighthouse on Monday.

After a rest, we went to lunch at the Hanalei Gourmet. Dan needed a burger fix, and I, the Hanalei Waldorf. Pilgrim seemed toired.

Dan thoughthe wanted a shirt, but changed his mind. Home we went to call Kenneth. He was tired. They Spent many hours seeing the Dr. today. Margaret weighs 89 pounds!

Dan napped and i reduced a palm frond to Ash. And found an Ash Wednesday liturgy. Later;)

We went to the point to appreciate the waves before sunset. There may have been a wedding party. Guitar and hula and a lady in white. Just couldn't figure out who her partner was. We satnear a couple and their 5 month old baby Olivia.
Nicole let me hold Baby. Shaun and
Nicole fly home To Calgary on tonight's red eye.

We fired up the microwave for the tri color lasagne and I madea green salad. The red wine tasted good! Its been a bit cool here.

After dinner we read our Ash wednesday service and imposite ashes on one another.

Then an hour of OPB on moose.

Yoga with the guy named Nick

Hmmm
I liked it:) my favorite pose was Gomukasana on the Wall
Followed by Paschimotasana.
There were three weird ones.
Supine lotus pose on belly
A block pressed into soft tissue below occiput.
And a twist with arm under along spine.
Not sure what he wanted but I with 'an economy of movement' assumed the position.
Felt good those extreme new poses.
Amen

Second Tuesday

I slept better than Dan, but he joined me for coffee at 7:30.  I tried to make waffles and blew it! So taro pancakes win the day; with bananas and coconut syrup;)
Dan cleaned the waffle iron. . .

We walked to the point but no whales appeared. I overheard an Asian lady saying she came to Princeville by taxi and the meter was running while she hurriedly shopped. She had no butter. I brought here half of ours. She was grateful.
"You saved me!"
I asked if she needed anything from the farmers market. She asked if she and her sister from Japan could come with us.
Sure;) see you at 1:30.

We spent the morning at Anini. Pilgrim watched a sleek pointer swimming with a stick and I had to hurry to take his harness off so he could swim too! He was going OUT towards the reef so I called him back;) Dan may have had to swim out to tow him in! Then he found a tennis ball and played hard, diggig it and chasing it through the sand!

I am still 'reading' audiobook By the Water's Edge.

We came home at 1:00 nibbled on hors doerves jand i made a sweet smoothie - banana pineapple and papaya. Ice makes it a frappe.

We mail and anniversary card to Joe and Jahnavee. And load Kako and her sister into the car. They had such a great time at the market!!
We bought lasagne, pineapple and bananas.

The New Hampshire primary is televised so I made fried egg sandwiches for us while Dan tuned in. Pilgrim slept.

Yoga later: Relax Deeply!

Monday 2/9/2016

First things first! We have a grocery list somewhere. . .  Tomatoes, greens, coffee, granola, bread, bacon and red wine. And a new bag:)we ran into Darlene from the UCC who told us about working at the Food Pantry on Wednesday.
We unpack, regroup and head to the point to watch whales. One little 'squirt' is having the time of his life; flapping tail and pec fins:)
But we're hungry and need to get to the Kileaua Fish Market for juicy shi wraps:

We share one. Later a few beers to share.

We set up camp at Anini Beach. Dan in the shade and me a 50/50 dappled sun. Mr. P likes it cool like Dan.

A

Home at four to call Dad who stayed in his jams today! And Tom whose hip and shoulder hurt.

The weekly pupu party is at five. We greet Earl and Mary. Pam and Bruce join us. They are in the end of 8 on 2nd floor. "Love to watch us" st the point, especially Pilgrim;)

Dan drives to the shell station got a cheese pizza ($12.00) while i slice tomatoes snd green onion and cook bacon. We eat outdoors with a candlelight and Syrah.

Moving indoors Patton is on, we just relax. We read alot at the beach today.
Sweet Dreams!

Second Monday 2/8

Thunderous waves crash.
Pink grey clouds like batting stretch,
In stillness God speaks.

Later Sunday Super Bowl

We walked Pilgrim around the Cliffs property and bought a stamp and postcard from the concierge. I want to remember Bud and Clair Erickson.

I made nachos while Dan made Guacamole. We also served salsa and salad and pineapple slices .

The Panthers never found their game. The Broncos simply outplayed them. In the third quarter i added an orange shirt to my nlue Hawaiian print wrap. Its not wise to tske nagativitu/ a loss, into my mind. So i was fickle !

The sunset after a cool breezy day that didn't reach above 70.
We sat on the lanai and enjoyed the farmers market lasagne and salad. One portion while small feeds the two of us.
With the week old glass of cabernet, dan thought it was 'ugh'. I had been awaiting it;)

Designing Woman was showing on TCM and we enjoyed it.

Sunday 2/7/2016

While drinking our coffee , there was a rap rap rap. The webers are here to drop off some grub!

We ate our Anahola granola and readied our selves for church. I didn't want to sprnd 2 hours in  the car. We visit Church of the Pacific, a UCC  affiliate.

Dinner at Bar A Cuda

A storm blew in. The Webers hastily put on sweatshirts over their finery. I was hoping for an inside table/ lol
We were seated outside as the sprinkles began. Leticia was our server, she was spirited and she and Ed had some fun.

We ordered drinks. The Granache for me and Marilyn chose a Wanderlust, Stella for Dan.
Ed was guided towards a soft green juice made locally.

We started with the pizzetta and each ordered two items. I chose the dates with arugula, parmesan almond and oranges. Also the risotto balls with honey.

The bacalao was delicious. Ed and Marilyn were delighted as the storm worsened. Some other diners moved inside. Polgrim was damp and the hostess helped move our table deeper under the overhanging eaves. The wicker basket lamps erre swinging pretty well! Ed offered me his coat, i was shivering.

This was a sweet ending to our week with the Webers, we hugged good might;)
Home to watch Easy Rider.

Friday 2/5/2016

Taking the day off. . . We need a day without intense sun and travel. Up at 7:00 am to NeNes, coffee and a peaceful
Day.

Breakfast on the lanai is the sweet routine. I receive a text message from brother Dan that Dad is hospitalized with a UTI and pneumonia. He had a check up yestetday but developed a fever overnight. He went to the ER early yoday and was admitted. He soinded weak.

I cried and went back to bed, to restart the day.

We cored the new pineapple;) a corer Ed bought for us. Sfter extracting beautiful slices of pineapple, i folleted the remaining shell and came up with yhis:

We went to the adirondaks to watch the surf and get some air. We discussed the day's possibilities.

We choose to meet Ed amd Marilyn at two and introduce them to The Hanalei Gourmet. Then onto the McMasters Slack Key concert.
It was a pleasant day with healing music.

Pilgrim always steals the Hearts and he and Doug have a special relationship.
Doug has a reflexology client for me!
Home to a waning sunset and a light snack for Dan.

Saturday 2/6

Up early, so rested I could yodel!
Meditate as the sky lights and have a first ever experience:)

Sun rise on Ka uai
Three hens catapult from tree
Scuttling over lawns.

Breakfast and coffee, granola and banana with almond milk and coffee.

We drive to Kilaeua for the Saturday market. More lasagne, cilantro and bananas are needed. I scored on the Tumeric Tsunami kambocha!

We meet Ed and Marilyn for a beach day at 10. It's nice and breezy at Kepuhi and the storm holds off. Dan dozes and Pilgrim stays close to him.

We ladies sunbathe and pose for cute shots with the guys.

By three were famished, despite beers and head home.
I call Dad in the University/ Clarkson hospital. He said they don't know what he's got besides a touch of pneumonia and he's not going home tomorrow. Nothing happens on the weekends. He's had many visitors. The neighbors are looking in on Margaret.

Dan returns to Foodland for Superbowl groceries, for making nachos. I fix a fried egg sandwich and Pilgrim eats too.
He's earned it after a day at the beach.

Yoga with Katie

It wasn't the easiest class. My bones hurt against the wood floor, the blocks and the weight of surrendering. Marilyn later said never again. Which was 'unfortunate'. I find this Relax Deeply so nourishing. But props and love are essential.

Legs up the Wall felt the most nourishing.
Pidgeon was grueling. My favorite, Meadowbrook was a sweet blissful ending.
This poem lovely ( i couldn't find the one Katie read. Crown of the oak/ modestly/ thrush) , a take your breath away offering.

Such Singing in the Wild Branches

It was spring
and I finally heard him
among the first leaves––
then I saw him clutching the limb

in an island of shade
with his red-brown feathers
all trim and neat for the new year.
First, I stood still

and thought of nothing.
Then I began to listen.
Then I was filled with gladness––
and that’s when it happened,

when I seemed to float,
to be, myself, a wing or a tree––
and I began to understand
what the bird was saying,

and the sands in the glass
stopped
for a pure white moment
while gravity sprinkled upward

like rain, rising,
and in fact
it became difficult to tell just what it was that was singing––
it was the thrush for sure, but it seemed

not a single thrush, but himself, and all his brothers,
and also the trees around them,
as well as the gliding, long-tailed clouds
in the perfect blue sky–––all of them

were singing.
And, of course, so it seemed,
so was I.
Such soft and solemn and perfect music doesn’t last

For more than a few moments.
It’s one of those magical places wise people
like to talk about.
One of the things they say about it, that is true,

is that, once you’ve been there,
you’re there forever.
Listen, everyone has a chance.
Is it spring, is it morning?

Are there trees near you,
and does your own soul need comforting?
Quick, then––open the door and fly on your heavy feet; the song
may already be drifting away.

-Mary Oliver

Thursday 2/4

Overslept my 6:30 wake up, because i was awake in the night.

Dinner at the Webers 4210

We arrived with herbed cheve wine and cocktail napkins. Ed was commanding the kitchen. He brought his ipod and presented us with slack key music.

Marilyn made a great green salad. Art deared Ahi in bitter and garlic salt. He booled up earsof corn from the farmers market and toasted bread. We shared a blessing and ate as the sun set to the West.
Marilyn tasted the endangered species cherry cayenne chocolate, and declared it TOO hot to eat.
Pilgrim led us happily home at 7:25. We watched Bernie Madoff on TV.

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Wednesday 2/3 poem

Mind Wanting More

Only a beige slat of sun
above the horizon, like a shade pulled
not quite down. Otherwise,
clouds. Sea rippled here and
there. Birds reluctant to fly.
The mind wants a shaft of sun to
stir the grey porridge of clouds,
an osprey to stitch sea to sky
with its barred wings, some dramatic
music: a symphony, perhaps
a Chinese gong.

But the mind always
wants more than it has—
one more bright day of sun,
one more clear night in bed
with the moon; one more hour
to get the words right; one
more chance for the heart in hiding
to emerge from its thicket
in dried grasses—as if this quiet day
with its tentative light weren't enough,
as if joy weren't strewn all around.

Tuesday afternoon

We chose The Hanalei Dolphin for lunch today. We planned to eat at one and be at the Waipa Farmers Market at two.
Lunch cost forty dollars for the Bullburger and fries for Dan, a Fresh blackened Swordfish salad for me.
We had good service. Great food too.

The market was infull swing as we arrived early. The list:
8 bananas
Papaya
Lemon
Lasagne for dinner after yoga tonight
Herbed goats cheese from Kanuna.
On a whim I bought a Mamika tea with mint and lemongrass for a buck. It's therapitic and pretty tasty

http://www.mamakiofhawaii.com/mamaki/

Home again. Dan needs a nap and i read. We spoke to Ed and Marilyn. They will do a happy hour at Tiki Iniki owned by Todd Rungren. They like the action!

At 5 Pilgrim I go to yoga for Relax Deeply.
Abbey taught a great class, Spacious. We had a monsoon midway through class. A vision or was it real ? Reclining over a bolster in a heart opener, i breathed into my heart and green fire spread from fingertip to fingertip like the Northern Lights. Legs up the wall wss the ladt pose. Everything effortless and deep.

Dan will pop the broccoli and lasagne in the oven to enjoy with a glass of Cabernet for dinner outdoors:) oh so delicious and satisfying amid crickets 'song'.

Groundhogs Day

Up at 6:30 to Stillness and Pilgrim. The sun slowly rises, illuminating each part.

Each one arises
Ink sky, oceans divide, cloud,
Chickens mating squeals.

I wake Dan at seven to share the reverence of dawn, and coffee.
We silently eat our granola and banana with almond milk, and it's back to sleep for Dan.
I read an hour.

We have another small meal, bacon eggs  toast and pineapple. Then pack a bag to move to the point. Whales today, sunshine and yoga.

"Pound out my Pancreas!"

              High Surf warning. . .

"Filet and serve it to the sharks."
End of quote.
Sincerely Dan

Monday afternoon

Shifting gears. Private Duty nurse is a new role. The first half of the day we rested. At three Dan was ready to venture into Hanalei town to share a fish sandwich and a Steinlager beer. We settled into the Hanalei Gourmet. The server brought Pilgrim a bowl of water.

We went home at four and Dan felt a bit queasy. He slept for an hour and I read.
We showered for the Owner's Reception at 5:00. Earle was there, and Henry too. Earle said, " you haven't lost your beauty;)!"

We had fun with Marilyn and Ed, then finished the evening near the Gazebo on the picnic table, laughjng and enjoying some communion with new friends .
(Captain Don from Virginia)

Then home for peace and quiet. Dan lsyed his head in my lap and I stroked his ear and brow.

We made a green salad with chicken and fresh pineapple, cucumber and carrot.
The iowa caucus returns were televised. Hillary and Sanders in a dead heat.
It was a pleasant first day
